HS Families,
I hope that everyone’s school year has gotten off to a great start! I can’t believe that we are halfway through the first quarter already.
There seems to be some confusion about MSHSAA districts and postseason competition and that is the reason for my email. Since this is our first year of full MSHSAA membership, its understandable why there could be some confusion. Below I have explained what districts and postseason competition will look like.
Districts
Every team that is a full MSHSAA member and has registered for postseason competition will compete in districts. You do not have to qualify or have a certain record/time to compete in districts. Every team that we have is registered for postseason competition and will compete in districts. The dates for each seasons districts are listed below. The dates listed below are ranges and we will not know specific competition dates until closer to time.

Spring Sports
Sectionals, Quarterfinals, and State Championships
After districts are complete, depending on the sport, the district champions will move on to sectionals, quarterfinals, and then the state championship series. In some sports like cross-country after districts you just move right into the state championship meet and in other sports there are sectionals, quarterfinals, and then the state championships. All rounds including districts are single elimination, so if we lose we are done for the season.
I hope that you find this information helpful, especially since we are all new to this. Please let me know if you have any questions.
